The Maintenance position for the Parks & Recreation Department provides labor and support for all maintenance projects as needed to include repairs, preventative maintenance, set up for events and regular cleanup/trash removal.
SPECIFIC TASKS, DUTIES, & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Trash removal and trail maintenance within the park system
• Cleaning all restrooms thoroughly
• Coordinating and supervising community service tasks
• General maintenance and repairs on playground equipment, bridges, shelters, structures, requiring light carpentry work with various tools
• Assisting other areas with any needs, requests, or complaints
• Attentive to the public/monitor inappropriate behavior and communicate with park goers when park rules are in violation
• Setting up, cleaning and taking down for park events and shelter rentals
• Mowing and groundskeeping
• Irrigation repair
• General maintenance of all city parks
• Christmas light set up and take down citywide
• All other duties as assigned
WORKER REQUIREMENTS (education, certifications, experience, etc.)
• High School diploma or GED required
• Valid driver's license required
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Able to comprehend, retain, and carry out instructions, as well as anticipate logistics
• Able to multitask
• Sound knowledge of safety measures and risk management strategies
• Organizational and time management skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
• Capable of performing physical labor, some of which can be demanding
• Able to constantly stand, walk, bend, and reach for items (may be repetitive motions)
• Able to lift, push/pull a weight of up to 50lbs+
• Withstand exposure variable temperatures (including extreme hot/cold)
• Perform job around various elements (i.e., animals, dust, and allergens)
